Volunteers for Greenfields Community Group (GCG) have worked tirelessly over the past years with the aim of 'providing a community space and  facilities in the park to support the health and wellbeing of local people for generations to come'.    This determined community raised significant funds to challenge the planning permission that was given for housing on the parkland and whilst the  challenge was successful, the local efforts to engage with Shrewsbury Town Council to make upgrades to the park have mostly failed.  As volunteers we have been committed to improving the basic infrastructure of the park and make good use of the land to educate and inspire local people as well as provide space to meet and be active, but also provide access to quiet, comfortable, shaded areas to rest, observe and reflect. 
 

                            The Committee is disappointed that their tireless efforts have not been productive.
